The Perfect Diamond Shape

Your engagement starts with the ring! A diamonds shape is one of the first aspects of an engagement ring a couple considers. Learn about the unique characteristics of different diamond shapes.

Round

As the most popular diamond shape, round diamonds are classic and timeless. Round diamonds are brilliant cut, which means the shape optimizes light return.

Oval

Oval shaped diamonds have quickly become one of our most requested diamond shapes! The elongated shape gives an appearance of being larger than other shapes of the same carat weight.

Marquise

Marquise cut diamonds have an elliptical shape with pointed ends. They are often referred to as being shaped like footballs, boats, or eyes.

Pear

A pear shape is a cross between a marquise and a round shaped diamond, with a point on only one end. Pear shaped diamond rings can be worn with the pointed end facing either direction.

Heart

A heart shaped diamond is the ultimate symbol of romance. Symmetry is crucial to this diamond shape. The two halves must be identical.

Cushion

Famously referred to as “old mine cuts”, cushion shaped diamonds have a rectangular shape with rounded corners. This shape is similar to a pillow (hence the name)!

Asscher

Asscher shaped diamonds are similar to emerald shaped diamonds but are square. This shape has large step facets and a high crown to create more brilliance.

Emerald

Emerald shaped diamonds have a “hall of mirrors” effect. This diamond can be identified by its elongated rectangular shape and step cuts, which create an elegant appearance.

Radiant

Radiant diamonds are known for their “cut-off” corners. This diamond combines cutting styles by having the shape of an emerald cut but the sparkle of a brilliant cut!

Princess

Princess shape diamonds are known for their square appearance. This diamond shape has the same brilliant cut and optimal lighting as a round diamond, and features an “X” shape when looked down on.
